MECK Pre-K is a high quality pre-K program open to all four-year-old children in Mecklenburg County at no cost to families. Classrooms are located in licensed child development centers and taught by licensed teachers and teacher assistants. MECK Pre-K is administered by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and funded by Mecklenburg County.

The Ada Jenkins Center believes that education is one of the
strongest pathways to lasting economic opportunity. Through our youth program,
LEARN Works, we help elementary school students build their academic skills,
grow in confidence, and overcome barriers that can impact their ability to
learn and succeed. LEARN Works has 2 main education programs for elementary
school students.

Free access to books, computers, Wi-Fi, and educational programs at branches serving Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville. The library serves such a broad range of needs — literacy, job search help, free wifi/computers, meeting spaces, children’s programming, tax help, and ESL resources.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library offers welcoming, sensory-friendly programs and services for neurodivergent individuals, people with developmental disabilities, and their families. Offerings include Sensory Storytimes, adaptive art and literacy programs, sensory-friendly hours, an Autism Resource Collection at ImaginOn, and assistive technology like ZoomText and Kurzweil. The Library also partners with community organizations to expand access and connect people with resources.

The public library supports adults with workforce development (job search, resumes, interview prep), self-paced online classes, 1-on-1 tech support, language practice groups, and digital literacy resources. Bilingual staff and translated materials are also available for non-English-speaking families.

The public library helps teens succeed through Roadmap to Success (goal-setting and career exploration), free online tutoring, job search help (resumes, interviews), post-high school planning guidance, and digital literacy support.

Through the ONE Access™ partnership with CMS, every CMS student automatically has a library account using their school ID — no separate card needed — extending library support beyond the classroom all year.

The public library offers free programs to help children learn and grow. For young children, early literacy programs include storytime, Active Reading workshops, and Learn & Play activities. School-aged and homeschool children can join Homeschool Hangout, STEM activities, Homework Help, and the Summer Reading Program, plus extra reading support through Reading Buddies and Paws for Reading.

Online, families can access tutoring, writing help, and language learning tools. Through the ONE Access™ partnership with CMS, every CMS student automatically has a library account using their school ID — no separate card needed — to check out books and use digital resources year-round.
